LP/w designed a 90 ft x 9 ft mural at Marquette University High School, an all boys Catholic school. When presented the project, we knew what we were in for. On the one hand, the faculty. One the other hand, the students. Each with their own set of requests. All points were valid and all points had to be taken into account.
As a result, the mural represents the multi-layered education one receives with religion as the "base." This is represented by the large AMDG, the Latin phrase Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam meaning "For the Greater Glory of God." The letterforms are so large that they are there but not - a bonus since it is heavily employed throughout the school. The next layer is represented by the photos of students. Young. Active. Timeless. The layer in the "front" is their knowledge. This is represented by the technical line drawings that intentional interact and make references to adjacent photos
For the past few years, LP/w has been working with Marquette University High School on rebuilding their brand in conjunction
with a major building expansion.
The Annual Lookbook is their primary recruitment collateral.
As such, this piece is, for many, the first brand touchpoint. The importance of representing the brand cannot be understated.
